About

Jenny Yim was born in New York City and raised in Philadelphia, PA. Yim decided to become a Fine Arts professor in her junior year of high school. Ever since then, her goal was to get a Bachelor of Science in Art Education and a Master of Fine Arts. Even then, she believed that the most proficient and effective educators need teaching experience and an understanding of inclusive education. Her belief that artistry always revolves around practicing the practice and teaching the practice, is what led to her background in education.

In 2017, Yim went to Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Art Education. Yim’s primary medium was graphite, Sumi ink, and oil painting. Her work then was more focused on technical skills and traditional forms of oil paintings. Yim then went to Moore College of Art & Design for her MFA studies in Socially Engaged Studio Art. Yim’s work transitioned to develop its own autonomy through its research and concept. Yim started using digital imaging and fabrications to express her thesis work. Yim currently concentrates on digital work and paintings revolving around the subjects of globalization, pseudo-culture, contemporary capitalism, and marketing with socially engaged tactics.
