Uyghur is a Turkic-speaking and Muslim ethnic group that are primarily in China’s Xinjiang territory. Uyghur’s religion makes them a minority in China’s Han culture. Since 2017, in the justification of preventing terrorism, the CPC (Communist Party of China) send millions of Muslims to reeducation camps. Uyghurs are subjected to intense surveillance, forced labor, involuntary sterilization as they are forced to live in concentration camps. Much of this forced labor is in factories that large American companies use. Recently, Congress proposed a bill to ban imported goods made by forced labor in the Xinjiang region. Nike, Coca-Cola, Apple and other major brands came to contest, weaken, or have “constructive conversations” about how the ban would affect their profits. The bill has passed so we need some way to recover our lost profits, right?
